On June 26, 2025, the annual general meeting of the members of the National Union of Pig Breeders of Russia took place.

During the event, industry experts and representatives of pig breeding enterprises discussed strategic prospects for the development of pig breeding in Russia for the next decade.

The General Director of the National Union of Pig Breeders, Yuri Kovalev, a member of the RSPP Commission on Agro-Industrial Complex and Food Security, presented a report titled "Report on the Activities of the National Union of Pig Breeders for 2024. Pig Breeding in Russia: Results of 2024, Current Trends for 2025, and Target Indicators until 2030."

The report outlined an ambitious goal: to enter the top five largest global pork exporters by 2030.

Five strategic directions to achieve the goal:

  1. Increasing productivity - bringing key indicators to the best global standards.
  2. Developing vertical integration - strengthening the entire production chain.
  3. Diversifying exports - exploring new promising sales markets.
  4. Improving biosecurity - implementing modern production protection standards.
  5. Attracting investments - implementing large-scale development projects.

The National Union of Pig Breeders is a member of the Agro-Industrial Union of Russia.
