Members of the Public Council under the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia held another meeting on April 29 this year. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Maxim Titov, Deputy Secretary of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation Vladislav Grib, representatives of regional agro-industrial complex management bodies, and the industry community. Alexander Ivanovich Baburin, Executive Director of Rosagropromsoyuz, took part in the meeting.

In his speech, Vyacheslav Grib noted the high quality and active work of the Public Council under the Ministry of Agriculture, and also suggested that other public councils use its initiatives.

One of the key agenda items was the progress of seasonal field work. According to regional agro-industrial complex management bodies as of April 28, sowing for most crops is ahead of last year's pace. In particular, this applies to wheat, barley, rice, sugar beet, sunflower, rapeseed, potatoes, and vegetables. At the same time, according to forecasts, sown areas will increase for oilseeds and grain crops, potatoes, and vegetables. Overall, 93% of winter crops across the country are in good and satisfactory condition. Farmers are provided with seeds and mineral fertilizers in the necessary quantities.

Among the main tasks for this year are the fulfillment of the forecast structure of sown areas and the achievement of production volumes, the timely delivery of budget funds to farmers under the State Program for the Agro-Industrial Complex, the fulfillment of the plan for the acquisition of mineral fertilizers for field work, and an increase in the production and sowing of domestically bred seeds.

The share of Russian agricultural machinery among farmers continues to increase, thanks in part to state support measures from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The existing fleet of agricultural machinery in the country is sufficient to complete the sowing campaign within the established deadlines and ensure the harvest. The implementation of the national project "Technological Support for Food Security" contributes to the renewal of the country's machinery fleet.

The Public Council reviewed the results of state variety trials last year and plans for the current year, the draft national report on the results of the implementation of the State Program for the Agro-Industrial Complex in 2024, as well as other topical issues. The meeting participants unanimously approved the Ministry's work on all agenda items. Members of the Public Council decided to award employees of the Public Chamber's Apparatus with honorary certificates and letters of appreciation in connection with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.
